Windows 2008 R2 Impressions

It’s official – I’ve installed a Windows 2008 R2 AD Server in production. I’ve had it running at home for awhile now. I have not had any real data to work with so my experience has been somewhat limited. There are real advantages to having old data/users/groups/email when trying to write some data specific scripts [...]

I can’t think of a better way to say it…

Iowa Caucuse

I am watching the Iowa caucuse and it looks like an interesting race.

It was mentioned on Slashdot recently, but I don’t want to lose the link. It is how the presidential candidates stack on scientific and technical issues.

The most effective way to find and destroy a land mine is to step on it.
This has bad results, of course, if you’re a human. But not so much if you’re a robot and have as many legs as a centipede sticking out from your body. That’s why Mark Tilden, a robotics physicist at the [...]

Top Technology Stories of Interest

This is today’s pull through Slashdot and some articles I don’t want to lose. Some are very applicable to things that are going on right now with me at work and other are just curiosities I would like to follow-up on, when I have the time.

Versioning FS for Linux – revision control, intrusion detection, preventing [...]

The need for a good and consistent backup solution for your work and personal data has very highlighted this week. We had a major system failure this past week at work and I had a system failure at home.

Work Failure

Thursday April 12, 2007 we had a disk problem starting at about 21:30. This evidently started [...]
