Nicholas and Donna just completed the “A Run Through History” one mile race sponsored by the New Orleans Track Club. They both did great!!! I didn’t get the exact times that they ran it in but I believe Nicholas ran in about 8:30 and Donna about 11:20, unfortunately I was a little ahead of the finish [...] I’m not really one for a lot of charitable giving. There are a lot of great organizations out there that deserve and need lots of help, however it’s impossible for the average person to give to them all. Anyone that has children can appreciate the help that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital gives to families in [...] Esther is after me to post some new pictures and post more about the family, so here is the first note of trying to make that change. New Scientist has an article about kids TV watching habits and the possible repercussions to their academic performance. I find this interesting because they did control for mental/learning problems before the study, which implies all these kids were on average capable. It also states that the habits remained the same as they grew up, so [...] This study it seems was more on the effects of a specific medication and ADHD drivers. It seems that ADHD teens are a little more prone to distraction while driving than other groups of people. Who would have thought? It’s something to remember when my kids get to be old enough to start asking to drive… [...] Nicholas actually spent the first night alone in his new room; I think he turned every available light on. I know he even changed one of the smaller lights to a larger one. He helped out yesterday when we were putting the trim and doing the windows so I think he learned and got to spend [...] This weekend we are supposed to be finishing Nicholas’ room. Saturday will be the first night he will have his own room while staying with me. I don’t know if he is really excited about it but honestly I am. I’m glad to be providing a refuge for him away from the two little girls [...] I’ve moved my pictures to a new page – http://www.thomaswimprine.com I am hoping to keep new artwork up and to keep it fresh, however I have been working in the darkroom lately so posting it isn’t as easy as the digital cameraI have my kids on a regular schedule now! We went to court today [...] I’m home in Jefferson Parish, right next door to New Orleans, and have been for about six weeks now. I have my children this weekend, which is a very special blessing considering everything that has been going on and the amount of time at work. I have to bring them home to their mother shortly, and [...] |
